OK - to all my throngs of adoring blog fans - I have finally finished my photo blog of my trip - it only took not quite a year! So enjoy these photos!

Depending on how you are looking at this the entries might be posted backwards - I recomend going through the 2009 posts one by one starting with "More Buenos Aires" and ending with "Buenos Aires - Last Stop" that way you get the chronological order. If you are interested in my delightfull writings the posts from 2008 contain an almost realy time play by play of my adventures - mostly of the culniary variety - so feel free to give those a read if you want more details about the trip

There are also a bunch of photos of Buenos Aires in october 2008 that I posted durring my trip that are worth checking out.

Bariloche

One air conditioner breakdown, three sore backs, several breadsticks, pastries, apples, chocolates milks, pizza slices, and sleepless hours later we made it to Bariloche where it was sunny and gorgeous. Luciana was very happy – Patricia was too - but she's pretending not to be in this picture.

I was also happy

this guy was probably not happy because someone sprayed graffiti all over him

we went up in a chairlift to the top of this little mountain – because we were too lazy and hot to hike anymore

the view was pretty nice - Bariloche is in the lake district which looks astoundingly like the south coast of bc - gulf islands etc. but the lakes were an amazing deep blue color and the weather was incredible while we were there. There was fantastic icecream and beer. The only bad thing was the very horible free hostel dinners - tuna and rice with a few bits of carrot..worst meal of the trip.

this stray dog joined us for a healthy snack of the greasiest fries I”ve ever eaten ever anywhere

the luxery bus – 9 hours overnight to Buenos Aires

the way out of Bariloche

el Cheltain

On the road again – 4 hours to el Cheltain – a small village in the centre of a gorgeous national park

almost there!

6533 – After dropping our stuff at the hostel we set out to see the Glacier – six hour hike.

that is the glacier we are aiming for.

getting closer

closer still

there she is – just on the other side of this lake - we stopped for a snack before heading back

back to town

The next day I set out on some small hikes alone, because I sprained my ankle slightly the day before and very unfortunately couldn’t attempt the crazy 10 hour hike Patricia and Lulu wanted to do. The park ranger assured me it was fine to hike alone there and that “no one here will do anything to you” He didn’t mention if the puma’s would anything to me - but I decided to take the chance.

then I wandered around town a bit

then we went out for dinner – this was squash filled giant ravioli smothered in butter and parmesan – it was so so so good – the perfect last meal before the 36 hour bus ride north to Bariloche. Along the famous route 3 through the desert – the scenery was not very variable, but it was very beautifull – one night we had the sun setting on one side of the highway and a full moon rising on the other… pretty awesome.
