Uruguay

an overnight bus ride took us out of Brazil days before heavy rains flooded the roads! –Lucky us - We arrived safely in Montevideo – Uruguay.

on the road again – 2 hours – Montevideo to colonia

a horse and cart is cheaper than a car
lovely colonia – the old town section was full of charm, cobble stones and flowers, in addition to very big stone walls.

down by the water – and windy windy windy . We stayed two days in this sleepy town – before heading back in the opposite direction – Colonia to Punta Del Est Via Montevideo about 6 hours all together.

The view from the housing complex we stayed in at. In a few years this scene will probably be made up of condo’s and hotels – as this area is under some rapid tourist development due to its qualities of hot sun and white sand beaches. Although we were there in the windy season which made it almost impossible lay on the beach for any length of time.

5821 – this is patricia trying not to get sick on the catamaran from Colonia Uruguay to Buenos Aeres – it was about a 1.5 hour crossing – which was preceded by about 5 hours of buss riding, and some more hours waiting for busses and catamarans. The seas got pretty stormy shortly after we left the port, and we were not the sickest ones on the boat by any means! The staff were coming around with cool damp towels and doggy bags for people. I stuck to my seasickness standby – salty potato chips – works every time – why I don’t know, it just does.
